What restoration involves
Restoration goes further than a standard sand and finish. Depending on the floor, it can include:
- Repairing loose or damaged boards
- Filling gaps and treating worn areas
- Removing old finishes, stains and marks
- Sanding back to clean timber
- Applying a hard-wearing finish that suits how the room is used
Period homes and parquet
Period houses in Northumberland often have original softwood boards, hardwood or parquet that have been covered, painted or left to wear. We restore these floors with care, so that the character of the timber stays.
Restoration or sanding?
If your floor is in generally good condition and needs a refresh, floor sanding may be all you need. If it has damaged boards, gaps or other problems, we recommend restoration. We will tell you which when we see the floor.
Found woodworm?
Small round holes and fine dust can mean woodworm. We can treat the timber and restore the floor as part of the same project. See our woodworm treatment page.
